Set against the intense polarizations and enmities of the small-town and provincial politics of Milagros province, this drama focuses on how two brothers who, unaware of how they are related tread paths which lead to a collision between them. One, not knowing that he was adopted by the man who inadvertently killed his father, is a priest, Father Alfredo Valderama/Benjamin Osorio, Jr (Piolo Pascual) whose faith is tested not only by the causes that he champions but also by the emotional attachment he feels towards his foster sister Jasmin (Cristine Reyes). His adoptive father, Leo Valderama (Christopher De Leon), a former mayor turned governor of Milagros, is also unaware that the boy he had adopted is the son of the man he had killed.
