Palace Not Objecting To Arroyo Extended Stay In Govt Hospital
Malacañang is backing the recommendation of the Department of Interior and Local Government and the Philippine National Police to let former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo stay at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said the Palace is leaving to the DILG and PNP the matter of securing detained Mrs. Arroyo, now a congresswoman representing Pampanga’s second district.
“Hinahayaan ng Pangulong Benigno Aquino III when it comes to matters of securing the former president, hinahayaan niya ang DILG at PNP," Valte said on government-run dzRB radio.
She said the Palace is aware the PNP’s decisions are based on caution, adding it does not want the PNP to be blamed if something untoward happens.
